Obesity, Overweight Adults, children and teens

Overweight: In this country of the US 66% of adults are overweight: have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30 or more

Obesity is described as an excessive amount of body fat that includes fat, muscle, bone and water.

Two ways to measure body fat in reference to accuracy is underwater or with a DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry). Today the weight for height tables (BMI) is primarily used. A challenge in using them is that they tend to vary and do not distinguish between excess fat and muscle. Therefore a very muscular person may have a high BMI and be considered overweight.
